I am simply a concerned American. I am concerned about the state of this nation, and, more importantly, the state of mind the average citizen seems to hold. I was told, “Look. I really don’t care about politics. Until I can no longer get my Starbucks, I just don’t care.” This deeply disturbed me. It concerns me that we are so content with being fat, caffeinated, and zombified that we stand idly by as our rights are systmatically dismantled. We sit, lazily, watching and unseeing as our country becomes the type of nation that we claim to abhor.
The Uniting (and) Strengthening America (by) Providing Appropriate Tools Required (to) Intercept (and) Obstruct Terrorism Act (USA PATRIOT Act), the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade AGreement (ACTA), the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), more and more gun control laws, and now the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) is holding data on Americans with NO links to terrorism for up to FIVE YEARS. It’s madness.
So, here I am, a concerned American, writing a weblog, in the hopes that it reaches someone. Hoping that, perhaps, they will be able to reach someone else, and against all odds, enough people with start to give a damn, and DO something other than be controlled and herded along a path chosen for them. I don’t care about race. I don’t care about party lines. So learn about these things. Call your congressmen. Email them. Write them. Stalk them. Do something other than blindly watch. Wake up.
